01 / 07Kiwi Nest — bamboo tool holder with bristle top, holding a Kiwi knife, pens, and markers

Summary

Kiwi Nest is a desktop tool holder in the Ergokiwi product line. It reimagines everyday storage as a compact organizer: a bristle top corrals the tools in constant use, a hidden magnet in the base holds blades and other sharps securely out of sight, and a declutter feature gives stray scraps a place to go.

The result is a single object that keeps a workspace clean and the tools of a project within arm's reach. Kiwi Nest is sold through the Ergokiwi shop.

Project record

01 / Overview

A product-design exercise in making desk organization disappear into one small object. Kiwi Nest addresses three everyday problems of a working surface — loose tools, loose blades, and loose scraps — inside a single bamboo cylinder.

02 / The idea

The central idea is that organization works best when it matches how tools are actually used. Frequently used tools should stand upright and visible; sharp blades should be held securely but stay accessible; scraps should be swept away without breaking focus. Each function gets its own layer of the same object.

03 / What I did

I designed the product and its feature set — the open bristle storage, the hidden magnetic blade base, and the declutter sweep — and developed it for production as part of the Ergokiwi product line, including the product photography and feature diagrams used in the shop.

04 / How it works

A bamboo cylinder carries the Ergokiwi mark and is capped by a dense black bristle insert that holds pens, pencils, scissors, rulers, and other tools upright at any angle. A magnet concealed in the base holds loose blades and small metal parts against the underside of the unit. The declutter feature lets the desktop be swept of stray scraps in one motion.

Kiwi Nest is sold through the Ergokiwi shop at $40, alongside the Kiwi cutting tool and Kiwi Edge ruler.
