NFC — physical-to-digital interaction study

Summary

NFC was a 2016 interaction study exploring near-field communication as a bridge between physical objects and digital systems. Rather than requiring a screen to initiate every interaction, the project investigated the simple physical act of bringing a device close to an object and allowing that object to reveal information or trigger a digital response.

Project record

01 / Overview

An interaction study investigating NFC tags as embedded links between physical objects and digital experiences.

02 / The idea

What happens when an ordinary physical object can carry a digital action that is revealed simply by touching or approaching it with a device?

03 / What I did

Interaction design, physical prototyping, NFC experimentation, and concept development.

04 / How it works

A passive NFC tag gives a physical object a machine-readable identity or action. Bringing a compatible device close to it can open information or initiate an interaction without requiring a conventional visual interface.
